The winner got a shot at Bockwinkles AWA  title. I saw Leo give him everything he could handle in Edmonton back in 83.Wayne Hart was the ref and he got knocked down.Leo put his sleeper on Bockwinkle while one of them was outside the ropes. With Bockwinkle staring up at the lights, Leo pinned him. For a brief moment it appeared Leo was the new World Champion as Hubert Gallant put the belt around him. Ref Cedric Hathaway came in to dq him for the sleeper on the outside of the ropes. What Robbery!

You got a good memory, I was there that night too! It was a nice moment there for a minute. I still remember the crowd's reaction when Leo pinned Bockwinkle. Great memory.

Obviously, you're not from the Maritimes and remember watching Leo wrestle in his prime in the 70's and the early 80's. In the Maritimes, to people who are old enough to remember seeing him wrestle back then, Leo Burke is GOD. Maybe he never got pushed enough when he wrestled in other places, and I know he was used as a heel other places, never showing his true abilities. If you were lucky enough to witness him back here, you'd take back that statement.

The ring is probably the same size as they are now, the wrestlers nowadays are so huge it makes the ring look small. A 245lb wrestler back then was a big heavyweight.

Wow, I can't beleive that out west in Stampede, Leo was a heel! Back here in the Maritimes, Leo Burke was LOVED and was the ultimate good guy who took down ALL the heels who came into the Maritimes. Back here in the Maritimes Leo Burke is legend and regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers who ever lived. The people here were passionate for LEO, and the crowd would erupt every time he enetered the ring. I never realized he played such a different role out west! I'm surprised, really!
