great video. got a questions. i am currently on generic finasteride for about 6 months, i am not what you would call bald but i am thinning on the frontal hair scalp area. so i am taking generic finast in hope to reduce further hair loss. but a hair loss doctor once told me that its best to use original propecia as compare to generic, it is better.other than it being more expensive than generic finast, is there any benefit that propecia have over generic, or is it all the same?

@hanielroswell1981 i do not want to say that generic is worse than brand but i do want to say that you should not be buying any finasteride from a rogue pharmacy or from overseas where you have no idea what you are getting. that would be unsafe.

Hello, I am a 34yr old female taking Finasteride.. My doctor gave it to me for AGA and high levels of testosterone. Its been almost 2 months and since Ive started it, my hair has been falling out like crazy. Its become so much thinnner on top and had started hairloss in the back of my hair which wasnt even affected by the AGA b4. Now I have diffuse thinning all over.. Is this normal for the initial shed? SHould I be worried or this is the process it takes in the beginning? Thank you..

hi,

first i cannot give medical advice here. however, if you are 34 and could get pregnant, this is a very dangerous medication for you to be on. i assume you know that, as you can have a male child with a physical abnormality. second, you need to speak with a dermatologist or other doctor to answer a medical question.

@orangedac totaly agree with you there,ive been taking finasteride for a few years and its slowed the rate of balding down dramaticaly ,please let me know what shampoo to go for aswell as im going to start with that also.thnks

I have male pattern hair loss and I've researched this issue throughly for the last 7 years. I'm on propecia and rogaine foam and shampoo with Nizoral 2%.  I'm also using another medication called Avolve (dutasteride).

I can tell you the guy in the video knows what he's talking about unlike many out there. Its a tug of war between your genetics and propecia.

I know the effects and not planning to have kids anytime soon and using a BCP.. Im jsut curious if the initial shed is normal.. Thats all.. If that is a good sign or not..

He is totally right. I'm 34, and have been taking propecia since I was 24. I didn't regain the thinness from back then (you can only tell when I stand under a bright light), but I kept the hair that I had. So basically, I have hair of a 24 year old, at 34. So, it keeps your hair where it is. Once you stop taking it, all the hair the should have fallen out, starts to fall out.

Thanks for the info Sam, and thanks for your videos on youtube, they are fascinating. My doctor basically opened up a textbook, looked up propecia, and when she saw the possible side effects freaked out; I don't think it's a drug that she's ever actually prescribed nor really knew anything about - I think basically here in Northern Ireland most people just accept hair loss unfortunately.
