Allen is the best Conte!!The way Allen says "Io v'amo!" is so rough and cruel! he doesn't care a bit for the Contessa any more,yet the Contessa still loves him...Carol Vaness makes me really sorry for the Contessa.So elegant and full of sorrow and despair. And Battle-What a voice!! she is an angel in this scene. Magnificient performance. Allen, Vaness and Battle foreverxD

What's the significance of the ribbon Susanna pulls at 6:56? Does it have something to do with the page?

Carol Vaness is pretty hot in this

Non ho mai visto un'interpretazione migliore di questa! Vaness e Battle sono meravigliose e non ci sono parole per descrivere la bravura, sia canora che interpretativa, di sir. Allen. Che gran Conte Almaviva ci ha donato!

@psalmtone2008 The next play?
-
@ElisabettaVS Of course in the next play, The Countess bears Cherubino's baby....so maybe not all that unfounded?

Poor Contessa, the Conte is so wrong, always cheating on her and then, even with having only vague suspicions, he is furious about the thought of her "disgracing him" when he always disgraces her.

Wonderful scene, it makes me laugh and cry every time I watch it. Perfect singing and terrific acting. Allen - the best Count in his best performance. As to Vaness - I simply can't imagine the Countess could be played better. Thank you, Vaness, Allen & Battle!

He could be both. He did many thing well. ;)
I love the way this piece is enacted. I've yet to see anything that matches it. They all seem to be at the top of their game. Some people say Thomas Allen is perfect for the role of Don Giovanni, but for me he will always be Count Almaviva. His imperious gestures, his bearing - he was born for this role!
Carol Vaness' expressions are absolutely priceless too. Bearing in mind that apparently she and Kathleen Battle conflicted off-stage, what they produced on-stage was sublime in my opnion.
