Fuckin retards....obviously haven't driven before. If you're in 40 and in 5th you're gonna stall it, no doubt. The 5th gear is the largest, and won't be driven by 40K or force. The engine rubs the tranmission and stalls the vehicle. BTW, this is in Km/h
Even when you mean miles, you are way off dude. Actually, speeds depend on car, engine, gearbox, engine temperature, and driving style. It's useless to indicate speeds with gears, they are different .. duh.
You have to LISTEN to the engine, and shift when you hear the engine making too much noise. Then, when you understand this, learn to shift to pickup best power or torque. This is something you need to feel. Only 1 way to learn : practice. And each car = different.

2nd gear = 20-40
3rd gear= 40-65
4th gear = 65-95
5th gear= 95+
