I've tried everything to get a good sound out of mine and its still only mediocre.

Well i personally love this one, really nice play-ability and tone(stock pick-ups). But from reading up about them on the internet its sort of hit or miss in terms of the overall quality of the mexicans. If you can get a good one then they are worth the money for sure. So its best to try it them out first and decide if you like it.
