A July 27, 1950 interview with Dinu Lipatti (in French) from Swiss radio in which he plays Chopin's Waltz No.3 Op.34 No.2 and the Bach-Busoni 'Ich ruf' zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ'. Lipatti had finished making his famous series of Bach, Mozart, and Chopin recordings two weeks earlier, and speaks about the recording sessions. He additionally describes his process for preparing new works, which begins by reading the score without touching the piano. This is one of only three radio interviews of Lipatti in existence; unfortunately, no film footage of the artist has been found.

  • Fabuleux document !

  • It is a pleasure to hear Lipatti's delightful and musical use of the French language. Why am I not surprised?
