Did she hit the target? LOL Have her come to my county in NY. She will have no choice but to go though 40 hours of NRA firearms training. IMHO the standard for proper training.

@filetitan You're very welcome. I'm no "expert", but I have been shooting for quite some time and like many others, have tried a variety of different stances and grips. The one I described works best for me. Happy shooting.

She DON'T got it!!
Chin down between your shoulders, lean forward, and don't cup the bottom of the gun. Your left hand is there to provide isometric tension to control the muzzle flip, with your head up like that you are depending on your arms and grip to do all the work and no offense but a little thing like her is not strong enough to control that weapon with arm/grip strength alone.

@usarmycaptainamerica With the cowboy shooting you get to dress in period costumes, shoot from a horse or stage coach etc, shoot period firearms and have a hell of a good time.

@usarmycaptainamerica Since you guys like to shoot together and make it a family affair, two different types of shooting that will help build your skills is IDPA shooting events if you have not heard of them before try looking on youtube to see some of the shooting events, they put you in reality based situations where you may have to shoot while peering from around a corner or on a knee and shooting a target bad guy who is behind a hostage.
Cowboy action shooting is alo of fun too.

@filetitan Not a problem brother you guys made a good choice in a defensive weapon. I hope you both intend to get your concealed carry permits, I had to nag my wife for 2 1/2 years before she finally did it and then she thanked me as a situation arose and she was legally carrying a handgun and was able to protect herself.
A female shooting a .45. That's fantastic. It's always nice to see the ladies out there. I have to agree with a few of the other commentors regarding her shooting stance and grip. I think she would have far better muzzle control if she utilized the forward facing stacked thumbs grip. That, in conjunction with an isosceles stance vs. the old weaver stance, I think would help her immensely. BUT, she is out there shooting, and we all have to start somewhere.

Thanks for the tips!

I say the gun is just fine, her problem is using her left hand to support the weapon rather than using it to control muzzle flip. If she learns how to use a peoper grip she wil have no issues with that gun or caliber.

My thoughts exactly. I just watched several vids of female shooters and most seem to want that left hand cupping the bottom of the grip. They seem to do pretty well but would do SOO much better if they changed their grip. I know I went through a couple grips and stances before I found what works for me. It's great to see more competent women learning to shoot. Post another vid if you decide to try another grip. Would love to see if you feel like there's a difference.
