Reba McEntire's 84-year old father, Clark Vincent McEntire, is doing well in his recovery from the stroke that he suffered from earlier this year, making steady progress. Reba's younger sister, Susie McEntire-Eaton, shares with Taste of Country, "Our prayers are really being answered. Daddy is holding his own right now. He is resting and doesn't seem to hurt. We are giving him lots of updates about what is going on with each of us and loading him up with lots of hugs and kisses." One great piece of news is that Clark can sit up in his bed now, which he was unable to do even days ago. In addition, there is no paralysis. Susie adds, "He's got a lot of medical problems, but his kidneys are looking good, his liver is looking good and he's smiling at us. We're very grateful for that. Family is a wonderful concept God has put together in times like this. Reba flew in with her family. We laughed and talked about old times and reminisced about experiences we've had in our life with our daddy and grandpa."

Reba's dad - a three-time world champion tie-down steer roper - actually entered his first roping contest when he was only 12 years old. When she once asked her dad if winning a championship was as good as getting there, he replied with, "No, the fun to me was seeing if I could beat 'em and win the money. After I won, it was like, 'So what?'"
