@SenoritaPakistan The show has many themes; one of which is to show that the Tolchucks eventually transcend the Right-Wing Conservative post-9/11 hysteria when they actually get to know someone from Pakistan. The show also holds up a mirror to people's paranoia and lack on knowledge regarding current events and recent history. It's really obvious in the first episode when Raja attends his first class in an American high school.

@SenoritaPakistan Justin was NOT disrespecting Raja's salat. I think the context of the previous scene in that episode would have been helpful to you. Justin marvelled at, and was intrigued by Raja's serenity and self-possession, whereas Justin was riddled with anxiety over his social status and other people's perceptions of him. In the salat, Raja was demonstrating to Justin the source of his tranquility.
