Taking Sides

Project for an underground installation in Berlin, inspired by the book 'Taking Sides' ('The Ivory Tower') R. Harwood
It 's the process history of a famous conductor who during the Nazi era, instead of dissent to the regime, it was an important pawn. The protagonist uses as an alibi love for art, arguing that helped more than his country to stay and continue playing as if it had fled. One wonders about his choice. How long is because of guilt and innocence. Faced with the enormity of the story, I could only decide the facts, those facts are larger and material not only words but also the lives of people and the desire to interpret and understand.
For this installation is presented as a kind of spine that takes possession of the underground, with copper plates that grow organically and window glass in which the viewer can stop listening to parts of the book.


Progetto per una istallazione nella metropolitana di Berlino, ispirata al libro 'Taking Sides' ('La Torre d'Avorio') di R. Harwood
E' la storia del processo di un famoso direttore d'orchestra che durante il periodo nazista, invece di dissentire al regime, ne è stato una importante pedina. Il protagonista usa come alibi l'amore per l'arte, sostenendo che ha aiutato di più il suo paese restando e continuando a suonare che se fosse fuggito. Ci si interroga sulla sua scelta. Quanto ci sia di colpevolezza e quanto di innocenza. Di fronte all'enormità della storia, sono riuscita soltanto a decidere che i fatti, quei fatti, sono più grandi e materici non solo delle parole, ma anche delle vite delle persone e della volontà di interpretare e capire.
Per questo l'istallazione si presenta come una specie di colonna vertebrale che si impossessa della metropolitana, con lastre di rame che si sviluppano in modo organico e box di vetro in cui lo spettatore può sostare ascoltando parti del libro.
