@paulkazjack Hi, for DSO use something like a 32mm, or 40mm - if you can get a 2" eyepiece the views will be even better. The video did not use an eyepiece, the camera was directly attached the the telescope.

I have an 8 inch skywatcher and in moderately light polluted sky can not see the faintest 'smudge' of andromeda. I'm definately looking in the right place... just isn't visible.

@JamesJames4 What size eyepieceis being used? I dont know which one to get for my nexstar for DSO's.
-
@vwlover94 I used maximum ISO 6400 on my camera
-
@paulkazjack The scope was an 8 inch Schmidt Cassegrain

@Hubieee Yes that's right, andromeda is the farthest object visible with the unaided eye and all star clusters visible from earth are inside our own Milky Way Galaxy.
-
btw, andromeda is the only object out of our universe that can be seen by our own eyes without any enlargement (not sure about some star clusters yet).
How did you know it was focused right on your camera? Did you do examples then took the photo ?

@vwlover94 Hey vwlover, I focused on a nearby star. Then when I slewed to Andromeda - even although it was not visible on the camera - I knew it would be in focus. You should set your camera on manual focus. Good luck!

wow this is nice, hey what was the iso setting? :)

@vwlover94 I normally use the maximum ISO - it would have been 6400. You can see how grainy each image looks. But once they are added together (stacked ) in Deep Sky Stacker they grain disappears. The more images you have to stack the smoother the final image looks.
