Why are you so mad about the lady receptionist? I think she was just doing the hand thing out of impulse, I (and I'm sure others) put their hand up to say something like "fine" but it doesnt mean I (we) are Nazis. You're way too sensitive.
BTW, I am Polish - Not that it even matters.
