What unites Europe is our diversity of culture, language and politics. We can also find solidarity in our wealth and freedom; free market economy, democraticaly elected officials, human rights. There are more controversial factors that unify us also; a sense of past greatness (colonial, influence) and also a fear of the future; China, India, Brazil and of course USA and Russia. The EU is in response to all of this but it forgets what made us great in the first place..Democracy & Independance.

There is no such thing as an "EU citizen" or even European citizen as neither are states.

It is also illegal under international law to make people citizens without their consent (UN Covenant of Political & Social Rights,article 1).

I am hugely pro-European but also anti-EU because I love diversity and not uniformity and laws that originate from an un-elected "elite".

Don't let the EU trick you into thinking that the EU is Europe,and that loving true democracy makes you anti-European !

@EuroSon99 Britain didn't fight world war 2 only to lose our independence to the EU dictatorship. Britain will not be a member of the EU for much longer and other countries will wake up and reclaim their independence after that. The very thing the eu is trying to do is to unite, bring peace and stability; it is failing on all three because the eu system is anti democratic and anti freedom. The diversity of europe is what makes it strong. A better system of european co-operation must be found.

@ukipwebmaster I never said the EU stood for solidarity... I said that values such as democracy and a free market economy are what made us great and wealthy. So of course we can find a sense of common purpose with our neighbours in Europe. If the EU is aiming for homogenisation then its an impossible task; religion,language,customs and wealth will always divide us. Proof that the EU will inevitably collapse..
