1. From Portugal to Phillipines is more than half. 2. He sailed East from Spain beyond phillipines which means he's been around the world. no necessarily one straight trip but he went around it first.

Ferdinand Magellan forced Lapu-Lapu a Muslim warrior and chieftain to convert to Christianity of which his rival Humabon readily did and thus selling themselves to the colonizers.
