Maldon Line 125th Anniversary - Part 1

On Saturday 13 June 2009, the Victorian Goldfields Railway celebrated the 125th anniversary since the opening of the Castlemaine to Maldon branch line. Steamrail also ran a tour from Melbourne to Bendigo, which connected with the VGR train at Castlemaine. Part 1 of this video includes scenes of the Steamrail tour heading north behind R761 and R707, followed by the VGR train from Castlemaine to Maldon hauled by J541 and J515.

Absolutely amazing, thank you for posting. Three loco's in steam, what a treat. The tank loco in the back ground at 6:15 - any chance it will ever be restored?

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately the E class tank loco in the background is beyond economical restoration.

'Beyond economical repair', I 've heard that one many times before. In my limited experience restoration of any steam vehicle is ultimately down how deep the pockets are of those who own them, plus that they don't expect any return on their investment. Thanks for the info'
