The last of a series of highly successful initiatives during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, designed to reach out to the Norwegian and global public about the impacts of Norwegian salmon farms on BC's wild salmon (92% of the salmon farms killing BC's wild salmon are Norwegian-owned). A group of wild salmon advocates paid a visit to the final Whistler event at the 2010 Games - the 50 km Nordic - to deliver a letter from over 170 concerned citizens to King Harald V, in attendance for his favorite event. The King has helped promote the Norwegian salmon farming industry.

  • 95vg95, you're very astute. Yes it was a stunt. Thank you for the Norwegian politics lesson - what would we do without you?.

  • EDITOR'S NOTE: Canada took 5th, not 2nd (clearly my mind was on other things :)

  • It seems this is just some kind of publicity stunt. If you knew anyhting about Norwegian politics you would know that the King has nearly no power at all over politics in Norway. If you really want to make any kind of change take this up to the Prime minister or any other Norwegian politician that will might run for Prime minister.

  • you should learn the real facts about salmon farming and its effects before going and making yourself look like a fool
