Schnabel became known for his plate paintings, large formated images of shattered porcelain painted over with expressive traces of oil colors. Julian Schnabel is also a filmmaker. He has directed four films, his first one being about his late painter fellow Jean-Michel Basquiat (1996).

It's funny how the people stroll around the gallery just to stop for a while and take a glance at the paintings. Unfortunately, that's the regular approach of viewing art.

Schnabel is now my favourite painter, he is always original in many ways, and shocks your eyes and mind with his paints, I agree with Marcel Duchamps...(from Uruguay, Southamerica).-

Schnabel is the world's greatest decorator. I just don't know if that is a complement.
