Montage of 2008 Olympic All-Around champion Nastia Liukin, who is one of my all-time favorite gymnasts. I love her and her family's story of coming from Russia and working hard to achieve so much success in America. MOLODETS, Nastia, and good luck in the future!

Photos are from Getty, AP, Reuters, nastialiukin.com, and others. ENJOY!

  • I really enjoyed this video and I love nastia liukin. But saying shawn johnson (another one of my favrite gymnasts) "stole the spotlight" from her is a little harsh. Shawn worked her butt off to get where she is, and she deserved any attention she got, just like nastia.

  • @IzzieS13 Thanks, glad you liked it! About Shawn, don't worry, it's not being harsh on her at all. To "steal the spotlight" is just an idiomatic phrase that basically means, "to be the one that everyone is looking at". Shawn became the World All-Around Champion, so to say she "stole the spotlight" is an appropriate description of what happened - she became the one that everyone was looking at!

  • i got to level 10, i did elite

when i broke my neck, my mom

said no way, they didn't know if i could walk for about a week i wasn't allowed to move

it was scary and my mom said that she doesn't want to lose me , i was close to dying but i want that gold medal...but mum says no

  • @ahahyoursofunny Be thankful that you're okay... A gold medal would be nice, but you need to honestly ask yourself if it's worth the risk. Trust your mom on this one...she loves you more than you can imagine.

  • @IRunFastest but all i do now is my homeschool work, and sit on my computer...waiting to die basically gymnastics was my dream and all ripped away

  • @ahahyoursofunny Listen... I know how you feel, but you gotta look on the bright side! Sometimes you don't realize how much you've gained from gymnastics until after you've been out of the sport for awhile. If you ask Nastia or anyone else who achieved their dreams, they'll probably tell you that the *real* reward is not the gold medal...rather, it's what they learned on the journey, along the way...learning to overcome their fears and failures, believing in yourself, the value of hard work...

  • @ahahyoursofunny (cont'd)...and so much more...I'm sure on your way to Level 10/Elite, you learned a lot of those lessons...and NOBODY can take that away from you! So don't let this drag you down... You might be surprised that sometimes when a door is slammed shut in your face, God will open another one if you're willing to look. But you gotta stop sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Trust me, I'm saying this very sincerely, and I hope you'll take it to heart.

I love the Chinese too (in case you couldn't tell by my other videos :D) But it doesn't stop me from being a fan of Nastia and others, too, even if they're rivals. I think there are great athletes with inspiring stories everywhere, if we're willing to look.

  • @gravitypowerful would you stop wasting everyone's time. Call her Russian and she is but at the end of the day she will be representing America. So deal with it. And lay of the curse words no one needs your ugly mouth.

  • They literally bred a super gymnast

  • @GravityPowerful I didn't say Nastia was american. I know shes russian. The American gymnast i was talking about was shawn, and this video is the one that said "another american gymnast stole the spotlight." Stop being a racist bastard. Calm your balls. And no, im not saying that cause im american. cause im not american.

  • @GravityPowerful Nastia is Russian and American, and you've clearly never been to america considering you think all of us are 'fat-asses'.

  • omgggg :) holy inspirational!! :
