This is a video of our sun conure, Heli, taking a bath. He was a little over a year old here. We were experimenting with his love of water. Now we skip the bowl and simply put him in the shower. Enjoy a little birdy bath :D

To anyone interested in buying a sun conure: they are expensive and VERY VERY loud. Take that into consideration before purchasing these birds. I have heard too many stories of owners abusing these birds because they did not realize how much work and noise they create. These birds are also very loving (although territorial) and intelligent. Please consider carefully if you have the time and resources to care for this bird

  • Does the name Heli come from the Greek "helios" meaning "Sun" as in sun conure?

  • @zwiebelknapf, certainly does :)

  • I have a male Jenday Conure he is like almost around a year old I.really dont have a problem with him. But I dont know how he can get a bath or a shower? I have tried using a Spray Bottle (bought it at a store) and putting water in it (like I read on lots of websites and magazines) but he for some reason does not like it. Idk where I can get a bowl or how warm the water should be or how deep the bowl should be. My Jenday is as big as your Sun Conure. Please help?

  • @StoriesChannel You can start off with a shallow bowl, something like a platter plate and let him run around in that. If he seems to like it, then you can graduate to a bowl that you don't fill very high, with lukewarm water. Never fill the bowl higher than an inch or two, so when the bird is standing, only their feet and a little bit of chest is covered. Otherwise, they won't even bother stepping in. See how Heli tests the depth with his foot before he gets in? They don't like deep water :)

  • about 2 weeks ago i baught 3 parakeets and i have a big cage with plenty of toys, and i clean it and change the food and water on a daily basis and i wissle to them but whenever i try toput my finger for them to get on they just walk away, what can i do,

  • @themasterray13 Ooh, this is tough. Your birds weren't hand-raised, were they? You're going to have to "train" them, in essence, to be familiar with your hands. Birds in general don't like hands, because people tend to just grab them, which is scary. I would do some internet research on how to teach your birds to "step-up" and how to train them to be comfortable with your hands. If you can't find it on the internet, go to a bird store where they hand-raise birds and ask for some tips!
