Doug Chabot and Karl Birkeland describe the instability on Saddle Peak. A hard, thick wind slab is sitting on top of facets. This will be a problem for a while. It'll take a few inches of Snow Water Equivalency to get this to avalanche...or someone may accidently find just the right spot.
I have seen this layer everywhere I have been in the Greater Yellowstone ! Be careful out there folks !
