Diet Management During Heat
During the warmers months of the year it's important to maintain your healthy eating patterns and activity levels. It is also very important to stay hydrated. This can be done by drinking up to 6-8 glasses of water every day. It may help to carry a drink bottle around with you, or fill up a large jug and put it in the fridge. This way, you'll be reminded to have a drink every time you see it. Be careful with caffeine based drinks and alcohol as they may dehydrate you. Diet soft drinks and diet cordials can be consumed also, but remember that water is the best choice.
With the warm weather and blue skies you should genuinely feel enthused about preparing healthy meals. Barbeques with lean meat such as kangaroo, lean mince burgers, skinless chicken or fish, accompanied with a salad make a quick and healthy meal during the warmer months. Delicious summer fruits, such as apricots and peaches, are also widely available, so there is NO excuse why you shouldn't be getting your 2 serves of fruit each day.
So remember to carry on with your healthy eating, keep active and stay hydrated over summer.
