Merry Christmas Vince Guaraldi and God Bless you for all the music you've left us. The world is a better place for your efforts, Oh Maestro of Menlo Park.

He was really a piano player genius.

one of my favorite songs ever.

This and the David Bowie Bing Crosby Little Drummer Boy songs are the best! (and this was never my fav., but this is fantastic!)

@minamu8 Yup. I rallied for years starting in the early 80s when I'd see the LP forgotten about in the kids section of Christmas music in the stores. I marveled at the stereo soundtrack, with original tunes never heard in the show, and even special ordered many copies of it for family and friends. Nice to see it did catch fire as a CD, and is now a holiday soundtrack standard, apart from the show.
@UNKLDAVE - Xavier Cugat said he was quite happy playing what the people wished & enjoying his swimming pool, rather than play what HE wished and go starving. How many songs do most of us remember from any one artist? Thru his music for Charlie Brown, Vince created an iconic sound that lives forever in the minds of at least 500 million people. He introduce jazz to millions who would never have heard it otherwise. Most who know him only for Charlie Brown would NEVER have known him otherwise !!

It is such a shame that Vince has had the Charley Brown icon pinned to him in such a way that people forget that he was actually a genious as a piano player in general let alone a jazz player. The man and his crew were great and I would have liked to have seen him play. I have never heard anything about him being indifferent or otherwise on the subject, but I have to wonder??
