For one thing, I do not consider Greyhound and Peter Pan bus lines to be public transportation, but corporations that run bus service. Secondly, you show a picture of a hurrican evacuation to prove road congestion. However, it is uncomfortable to bring two nights worth of clothes on a subway, much less four people needing to bring at least a week's worth of stuff. So car's are the best way to get out.
