Demonstration on how SD speed can impact video play. We use CorePlayer on two different Edubooks, one with Class 4 SD and the other with Class 6 SD.

  • This is VERY impressive, this is runing on xcore86? what's the graphics chip? the SoC chip or something else? if this runs on the xcore86 module hardware there's endless application for the set-top box market for this.

  • The graphics is just a standard frame buffer. We don't push the Xcore86 as a video chip but we have worked hard to find ways to play video. We are now using SMB which is an open source player with .flv files. There is a video on you tube with an example. Future versions of the Xcore86 will have video acceleration and will support high performance video.

  • Thank you so much. How is the left one when web browsing on youtube?

  • Videos can be played with no problem if downloaded in .flv format. There is no problem with Flash on the Edubook but playing YouTube videos through a browser is limited by the processor speed.
