I have had Border Patrol agents rip stuff out of my wallet and then laugh and tell me their superiors support them. I have had a lot of "issues" with agents. The latest -today- I am in Califnornia. Two ICE agents were murdered yesterday evening driving from Mexico City. I am now searched by ICE Special Agents when I walk to or drive into Mexico. They dont even ask they just get into your car shile someone else distracts you. Is this legal?

@irishpride8777 yeah it's fine if they mostly just harrass mexicans, blacks, or others right? I go through a CP everyday, Mostly I do not have problems. I have had agents help themselves to stuff out of my wallet and rummage through my car. Yeah youre right I had nothing to hide. So how does that mean that I should be treated like an ass hole? frankly guy I am ashamed dirt bags like you freeload off of my country. But Slavery will make you free. U are cattle.

@yeomalt2 well, you may be right . . . negative public opinion is sometimes the only thing government puppets respond to.

Wow none of you know a damned thing about Laws, Federal police enforcement or immigration policies! Educate yourselves be a professional in all the fields and maybe you all will learn to interrprete things...

these border patrol agents are very ignorant even to the policies that they must enforce...
Simple question: When law enforcement isn't following the law, what is it they are doing?
Answer: Breaking the law.
They have been to the Court's and they've lost.
If they continue to ignore the Court's rulings and invent the law its breaking the law.
I'll continue to support the Bill of Rights.
Since you place more importance on uniforms than the Bill of Rights or any actual law, I'm afraid we just disagree here.

The law mandates the checkpoints be minimally obtrusive. They werent, so the Border Patrol got into trouble. They also needed a nexus with the border and didnt have one.
So the checkpoints have been stopped here. You and they have lost. Move on.

Like the Justice Department under John Yoo, the Border Patrol has been getting at least eight years of poor legal advice.
Read the actual case Martinez Fuerte, that the Border Patrol cites to.
The law that came from the U.S. Supreme Court is that there
a) has to be a nexus with the border
b) minimal intrusions in the stop
Anything else is beyond the scope of what the law allows.

Consider this analogy: In football you always have a couple safeties behind the line of scrimmage. Things are set up to catch people that break through. Suspicious activity is anything OTHER than what is consider normal. Most people have nothing to hide therefore are not afraid/or proud to admit they are a US citizen, or have their trunk opened. Also realize that the government probably has intelligence that problems or more terrorist attacks could be forth coming. The intrusion is minimal

The law only allows them to perform stops when there is a nexis with the border and the stops are done in a way that there is minimal intrusion. What has happened in the Norhtwest is they set up roadblocks detained 10s of thousands, some for hours and had no nexis with the border.
The reason they have been criticized by most of our law enforcement leaders here is they are here with little purpose, looking for something to do.
It is government pork.

Then the law should be changed. You understand and assume support the interrogation at the border .I am sure you realize that not everybody passes through the border checkpoints either, through rugged terrain and over fences etc. There is and will always be leaks. Individuals that have connections or paid help meet those once crossing and enter different roadways. The safety net could be seen as an additional deterrent. I am interested in knowing what u feel would be a better "safety net?"

They cannot set up checkpoints at any point 100 miles fro the border. They can do these stops if there is a nexis.
That law enforcement is ignorant of the law they are enforcing is scary. This also leads to illegal acts by law enforcement.
Under no circumstances should law enforcement break the law, either through ignorance, or because they feel it is inadequate.
