Episode Three : Into the Tropics (Part 3 of 6)

So far, Jared Diamond has demonstrated how geography favoured one group of people -- Europeans -- endowing them with agents of conquest ahead of their rivals around the world. Guns, germs and steel allowed Europeans to colonize vast tracts of the globe -- but what happened when this all-conquering package arrived in Africa, the birthplace of humanity?

Can Jared Diamond's theories explain how a continent so rich in natural resources, could have ended up the poorest continent on earth?

  • "they encountered many other tribes, some as hostile to invasion as the zulus"... well yeah, you are invading them, I hope they are hostile! It would seem that the Africans are the bad guys here.... for fucks sake, they are being invaded!

  • @Whitevoice14 Oh, ok, yeah, you are a racist and possibly a bit of a nazi. I am a white European by the way. So... you think that non whites should get out of Europe? Are you also saying then that All non blacks should get out of Africa, and all whites should get out of Australia, South America, USA, Canada, Asia etc??? No one is allowed to travel or relocate? Or is it just the privilege of the white people to do so? Yeah I think you are a racist. Sorry.

  • I have a feeling malaria is going to come up, I guess I'll see if I am right.

  • @iosuVakerizzo I would hate to say it, as I am white, but it's true. White people were almost always the bad guys back then.

  • Do any of you actually watch the entire series? It explains everything with one theory, one word: GEOGRAPHY. No racism, no cultism, nothing like that. Don't be lazy and watch just one episode or a portion of one episode.

  • @iosuVakerizzo history is written by the victor

  • @DOGFUCKERRR So what do you want? An eye for an eye? How civilized!

  • @iosuVakerizzo When it comes to survival, there is no such thing as "being an asshole"! People always tryed to make the best living they could at the expense of other people. The Zulu (and other African tribes) slaughtered the Kho San and the like, the Europeans came in and slaughtered the Zulu - who is to say to whom the land belongs to? To the people who where there first? ... Well maybe we have to rebreed Neanderthals and commit suicide afterwards?! That's the kind of nonsense

  • @whomybuddy Manifest Destiny<~~the greatest lie ever which lead to the greatest genocide ever

  • this documentary is made for AMERICAN or EUROPEAN perspective not African perspective. So even if american or european doing is bad, documentary will make them less bad with words.

~ your common sense says those bastard white invade and kill black people. This documentary will say white man expand their country, encounter black tribe man as hostile as fuck.
