@1wendt What was is not always what is. Altar Serving is a Lay ministry now.
Bottom line, Bishops have the say over these matters within their own dioceses. No bishop, archbishop, or even Cardinal has the right to lecture another bishop. Only the Magisterium can tell bishops what to do, and in this matter, they have said nothing. Orthodoxy to Rome, yes, but obedience to my bishop. By the way, both Masses are celebrated now.

@none1776 That "Universal language" argument is irrelevant seeing as God understands all languages. It Him we are praying to.
If you are reading a missal, chances are your mind is too consumed in trying to translate it that you lose your reverence and reading the mass rather than praying it.
And, no, Altar serving is NOT training for a vocation, it is a Lay Ministry, as stated but the Roman Catholic Church.
If you were a true Catholic, you would understand that the Pope's decision is absolute.
Ok, ok. It is (officially) up to the pastor if altar girls are allowed at the parish. It is not traditional. Satin likes nontraditional. If altar girls are there, albs should be worn. It is very bad to have girls in cassocks!
Correct, it is not a vocational training. He didn't mean that!
BUT, it does lead to vocations. BTW the churches that have only altar boys are the ones that have more vocations... I wonder why???

@ihikesocal Huh, I disagree, since I am living proof that vocations come from co-ed serving societies. The vocation to priesthood is the most serious matter. and if your vocation is decided based on whether or not you train with girls altar servers, your vocation is too shallow.
Satan likes division, so you should let is go. Satan likes protests and disapproval, so you should probably back off. Mother Church allows it, and that is all that matters. Cum Gaudio Atiatur!

@drinaldi2000 I didn't say that your church has less vocations...
"Mother Church allows it..."
I acknowledged that, still: yes true satin likes division, so let's pick only one, tradition: what most of our church is biased on, or change: moto of our anti Christ president and a more non-solemn mass.

@ihikesocal Some places have lost much of the solemnity of the mass, yes, but not all. In the diocese of Honolulu, we care very much about solemnity, tradition, and worship (hence the Gothic style and use of cassocks in the video.) But change and adaptation is necessary for survival. The church has changed many times in it's history. Or do you think St. Peter walked around in a white cassock and celebrated the Latin Mass in a basilica in Rome?

@drinaldi2000 You have a point. The church does adapted. Just saying... if you have a choice, tradition (what out church is based on), or just not as reverent.
This will be my last post because I think satin is having more fun at me arguing at you. I'm sure your trying your best. God bless.

@ihikesocal Yes, let us continue to promote Orthodoxy and Christian Unity, especially in within the Universal Church.
