Great vocal performance. But I am surprised a mic company is presenting such lackluster mixes as examples. The vocals are way too quiet for this mix.

I'm waiting on this microphone.

How come if I turn up the db on my program (FL Studio) to eliminate the low output volume, there is more static that comes in that destroys my vocals? I mainly purchaed this for vocal recording, and now I have to deal with finding a way to turn up the db while trying to keep it clear and clean...How did you do it in the video? Someone please reply ASAP!

@MXLMICS What mic Pre did you use for this recording?

This video doesn't do the mic justice. Lack of editing but I suppose you can hear the original mic this way

So... I have this mic and I have some strange hissing from the mic? :( What's wrong with it?
I am almost certain that the noise you are experiencing is from the mic pre in your interface. The R144 is a passive ribbon microphone, with much less output than you would get with a condenser mic. What interface are you using? What you are doing by turning up the gain in FL amplifies all of the noise in the chain. If you need further advice, feel free to call out tech support dept. Ruben there will be glad to assist you. Regards

That is the idea. To show the mic in it's native state, not what we can do with studio processing.
Assenavxactress. There should be no hissing, it is a passive mic with no electronics apart from the transformer. I suspect the hiss is coming from your pre-amp. It is a ribbon mic with a low output, so you may have the gain on the pre amp up so high that you hear the pre's noise.

To get the best results from any passive ribbon mic, you need a good mic pre. Which interface are you using?
