Interesting video Steve. I too avoided giving my number out to young students. I did however give it to adults I taught from time to time.

@BusanKevin It's been a lot of fun, especially since I've moved on from the Elementary kids. They send me messages from time to time. It's great to reconnect!

I think it should be okay to give your number to students, as long as you can clarify for them not to call you 24/7 or in the middle of the night or something like that. My teachers have always given us their numbers and email in case we have questions. There's never been any spam, so yeah. Btw, I was thinking that since you're teaching at a school, how about you show us around at the school and maybe during class when you teach if it's okay? That would be really interesting. Just a tip. :)
