A 3D animation using POV-Ray. It shows a Saturn V rocket - as used by the Apollo Moon landings, launching from a school yard in South Yorkshire. The decals on the rocket are for the Sheffield Astronomical Society.

  • The ground is as accurate as I could get it. The heightmaps were hand-made based on UK Ordnance Survey mapping of the area. Aerial photographs found on the web complete the low altitude scenes.

High altitude shots are based on publicly available satellite imagery.

  • I'm actually most impressed by the ground. Is it accurate? Where did you get the heightmaps/images?
