In his speech on the Senate floor, Sessions stood up for the Tea Party and those who share their concerns: "You'll forgive me if I'm a little concerned by all these attacks on the Tea Party. They didn't start this fire—they sounded the alarm. Before the last election, when Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress by substantial majorities, every conversation was about increasing spending...
But, after the 2010 election, and the emergence of the Tea Party... we have finally begun to look at Washington's spending problem. Now, instead of just raising the debt ceiling with no spending cuts—as the White House initially and repeatedly demanded—we're talking about how to cut some spending."

The founding fathers built a constitution of checks and balances believing reasonable men would agree; how could they foresee Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann or Glenn Beck? America was always dangerously prone to waves of populism and McCarthyite panics.

@Graphics4fun This nation has but the slimmest of chances from falling off an economic and fiscal cliff (I sometimes wonder if it's already too late) thanks to the Tea Party but I think we need to focus on getting more GOP seats with ideals and principals that match the Tea Party or else we risk 4 more years of President Obama. This nation cannot survive 4 more years of his policies and agenda. Hell, I worry if it'll survive the next year and a half until the next election.
