Former Doctor Who star Sylvester McCoy has told STV that he thinks Matt Smith has done "a really good job" - but believes Billy Connolly would be ideal for the role.

Wow - nice to hear an older Doctor (who my nephew loves, by the way) praise the new one. And he's right. Love the way MS plays agianst the expectation from the lines - smiling when he could just be angry etc etc. Nice.

@Intraverseneptune I would actually rank Smith up there with McCoy and Troughton. Smith has many of the same traits as Troughton and not only that but he is DAMN good actor. The worst in my opinion was Tennant. That's right I said it.

Fantastic Doctor. Don't agree about Matt Smith though terrible actor and performer and worst ever doctor. I think McCoy came second after Troughton for me.

Sylvester McCoy! He makes some good points. :3 Man, I still miss him fighting the Happiness Patrol. Good times. And Bonnie Langford was a great companion.
