I get crazy amounts of comments on my RP video. It makes me think so much less of him. Look at the bulk of his followers. Fundie loons. All they can muster is an ad hominem attack 90% of the time.

The turn off: (that doesn't sound right, but anyway) for me it's that time when you accused people of being "fence walkers" just for not jumping to the bias conclusion that they should side with you, or at least that's what it looked like i.e. as if you didn't want anyone to look into the issue to determine what's going on so much as just agree with you without considering the issue itself. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the number of subscribers. Having videos where you talk about things intelligently doesn't appeal to a lot of people. There is a girl on youtube who has at least 22,000 subscribers last I checked and her vids aren't funny are intelligent. They are just stupid.
