This video shows you how to assign a shortcut to a tool in the free PDF-XChange Viewer

1. Right-click on any customisable toolbar and select Customise
2. In the Customise Dialogue, Click on the Commands Tab
3. Select the Tools category
4. Select the Distance Tool and click on Properties
5. Reset the default shortcut key (none in this case)
6. Type another shortcut in the Keys field. If it is already assigned to some other command, this will be shown below in the Used by: field
7. Try another shortcut to find one that is unused, or replace the command that is already in use with shortcut you want to use for the Distance Tool (Measuring Tool)
8. Click OK and close the Customise Dialogue.
9. Test your new shortcut key
10. Control Space is my shortcut that shows the Hand Tool
