@goodnamepending Actually found the answer on a similar post. Tom had spent a significant amount of money on a (for the time) state of the art Scully 12 track. In 1975 a piece of gear like that would have cost an arm and a leg. Given that, the drums are quieter because they would have been the first track recorded, and therefore buried under each subsequent overdub. Still and all, an amazing piece of work to be recorded in a home studio during that era.

@tdelamont I think it was recored as a band (live no edits) cause the drums are alot quieter than every other instrument (probably used a room mic(s)

Anyone know they recorded this in a basement in 1975? There was no affordable way to multi-track at home back then, was there? Did Tom build a gadget?
