@nancyzeetoo That's not fair. They both destroyed their voice in the early 70s and if you want to compare them at least do it time correctly. Robert Plant from 1985 to Steve Marriott from 1985. Steve didn't sing any better.

jeezo sounds like a fading popstar "guesting" on x factor FFS!! Steve Marriott vocal still the best---any better?please post....
-
@SuperLmcc ....or Steve Winwoods version
-
Jimmy Page approached Marriot to join zeppelin long before Robert Plant,Chris Farlowe was also asked.
-
Comparing these two versions IMHO is a little bit unfair
Steve sung it being 21 - in his heyday and this rendition is from 1985 when Robert was 36. To me Robert's voice was the best circa '68-'71. I wonder how it could have sounded if he recorded it in his heyday too. - probably quite different, with different arrangement etc.
IMO because Steve is so often overlooked in many singers pools etc might be a reason why we're so ruthless sometimes, we just try to keep the memory of Marriott alive ;)

Rotflmao! Well, one can't argue with them though - Steve is indeed one of the most incredible vocalists of all time and he is often overlooked. Zep ALWAYS makes the cut and people never forget Robert, but, the Faces and Steve get lost in the sea sometimes. Thankfully Steve's devoted fans are there to push him to the surface to remind everyone. I've been guilty of rambling off about Steve myself, but, as you can see by my name, I've done more rambling about Robert, lol.

I love when Small Faces fans completely take over comments on a video not linked or directly related in any way to Steve Marriott or the Small Faces. Best fans in the world.

Stephen Peter Marriott!

MARRIOTT...by a country mile.

Absolutely nothing against Mr. Plant, but listening to this, any reasonable person should question why Robert Plant invariably ends up in the top five of every Greatest Rock Singer list, while Steve Marriott ends up around number 67 if he makes the list at all. Please, please, please....compare and contrast and tell us who the greatest singer really was.
Well, that's because Steve Marriott was unbeatable. And Plant knows that better than even you and I do.

quite nice but Steve Marriott's (The Small Faces) take on this song is unbeatable.
