Is this normal? Isn't it supposed to 'whistle'? And be intermittent?

  • Scary Shit! I changed my mind, Ill just take the thing to my moms, and let her do it for me. i might blow my self up.

  • @ANCIENTS0UL Naah, its not that bad.. its pretty easy to use and is a huge timesaver.

  • Thanks for your responses... my question was more towards the 'type of sound' this particular pressure cooker was making. It doesn't sound like a 'whistle' at all ;-)

  • @ANCIENTS0UL The burner is way to high. You want to have the burner on high untill it start belching like it is doing and then lower the burner to low. Do not be scared just follow the direction on the manual. A pressure cooker is a very fast and efficient way to cook, I have used one for decades. Not to mention the flavors are more intense(but some people do not like that).

  • You need to regulate the burner once it starts to vent like that. The jiggler should rock and vent steam 2 to 3 times per minute.

    No, it should NOT whistle.

  • once it does that, your turn your stove down to low, just enough heat to keep the presure.

  • yes this in normal, if it didnt do that then the pressure would just build up in the pot and the pot would eventually explode :)
