On 31 January 2012 Dave Lee MBE was postumously awarded the Freedom of the City of Canterbury for the great and lasting enjoyment he gave to the people of Canterbury for many years: in comedy performances, his tireless fundraising work and support for local charities and of course, as The Marlowe Theatre's regular Dame in pantomime. He gave much pleasure to so many people, the City is proud to honour his memory with the Freedom.
So moving to see the city of Canterbury rightly recognise and honour in this way, their very own Dave Lee... a truly big and beautiful man, who will be so dearly missed by all who knew him. No one deserves the freedom of ANY city, more! Congratulations Dave and good on you Canterbury.
