Project Arman is an initiative to help wastepicking and other vulnerable children near the Nizamuddin Dargah area to get back their childhood. The project helps working children come upto speed through non-formal schooling and then ensures they get into school. After this, it helps them stay in school. In 2009-10, only 10% of the total children in school dropped out. In other words, 90% of them stayed in school. Overall, the project helps the children to see themselves as part of India's promising new generation. Project Arman is an initiative of Arjun and Jyotsna Sharma and implemented by Chintan, an NGO working with wastepickers.
