Fascinating video and I like the musical touch added when she's in captivity creating the egg sac. Fabulous!

@BobCsAll Actually skytodes live as far north as South Dakota. We have a lot of them in Oklahoma, but I never knew what they were until I shot video of a spitting spider. They show up in my apartment on a regular basis. They are really amazing, and so fast when they spit the web and glue their prey. There is a skytode that lives in the Philippines, and it looks a lot like the skytodes I see in Oklahoma.

I enjoyed the video of the hunt as I've taken many a night walk around the yard looking for my little friends too. FYI/DIY...The plastic cases from a 50 pack of DVD/CD's make a pretty neat little (recycled) spider home, on the cheap.

@ImSuchaGamer - WOW!!! Sounds like the common garden spider or barn spider. They are usually found all around homes or barns in the summer. By the way, the clip on your channel is awesome...what a lot of work you did to pull that off!

@knorcube87 - Hey thanks for leaving the comment...I have seen videos of your colorful Philipine "fightening" jumping spider contests...very interesting, and a real fight to the finish!

@CallistoKumo - Yah, I'm always a sucker for a spider in need! LOL...

Nice video. Do you have skytodes(spitting spiders) where you live? I managed to get video of a skytode that caught a brown recluse. They spit web and venom through their fangs to glue their prey's legs to whatever surface they are on. They are really fascinating spiders. I have 2 videos of the same event. One is with my old camcorder, and the second part with my HD camcorder and macro lens.

@Torn80cj - No not in Michigan, this is typically a tropical spider.

Surprised the spiders are still out after that freaky snow weather! And boy did she shrink after depositing the egg sack. The music was all too perfect for that sequence

@etrigan778 - Hey thanks for the kind comment! My last trip out this weekend to check on the arachnids proved to me that they are gone after the second frost we had here.

Smart spider, knows more of her offspring will survive. I assume you should leave the eggsac out in the garage so it's somewhat cool/ cold. Better yet even in a shed.

@WilliBond0007 - Yes I will be doing that just after the female is gone...to date, she is still alive and well much to my surprize as she hasn't eaten anything now for five weeks!
