14th May 2010. I was woken this morning by the sound of people shouting, also by gunfire and grenades. As the Thai Government attempts to crack down on the Red Shirt UDD protest in Bangkok the violence has begun to spill out of the containment area (Silom) and into the surrounding roads. My house is located opposite Lumpini Night Bazaar and is now in the thick of the action.

Dude, if i where you I would use the the morning daylight , when things seem to be calmer to evacuate yourself and your girlfriend to a safer place in Bangkok, then go south for a few months. Go to Koh Tao ! Safest place on earth. Its not safe for you there anymore now, you have done a great job in reporting, now is the time to exit.

Hang in there, dude......your updates are being appreciated, seeing the situation through the eyes of a normal person. I can only imagine how stressful your situation is, but it is coming across vividly!

It is hard to imagine BKK/Thailand in a state like this. I just got back 3 weeks ago after spending the 8 best months of my life in Thailand. Breaks my heart!

If you get a chance, frostania was right, go to Koh Phangan/Tao to chill!
