I really hated Eddie when I was too young to realize how hot he really was. I thought of him only as a nuisance to Pacey and Joey. Now... years later, as I rewatch the series, boy oh boy, I was soooo wrong.

Simple...Eddie was a complete jerk to Joey...he left her 3 times!!! And 2 out of the 3 he just ran away without ending their relationship properly. He also does a come back when Joey is starting things over with Pacey...so that's how so many people ended up hating Eddie.
