Horizon explores the secrets of what makes a long, healthy and happy life. It turns out that a time you can't remember - the nine months you spend in the womb - could have more lasting effects on you today than your lifestyle or genes. It is one of the most powerful and provocative new ideas in human science, and it was pioneered by a British scientist, Professor David Barker. His theory has inspired a field of study that is revealing how our time in the womb could affect your health, personality, and even the lives of your children.
One of the MDs says, "It feels great to me as a mom to sort of validate moms everywhere that they didn't cause their child to behave this way, that their child was already this way at birth." This is only partially true. See pp. 108-109 of Redirect by Timothy Wilson. Helping mothers to think of alternate reasons for their child's fussy behavior led to less child abuse. Some mothers (and no doubt fathers) blamed children for their fussiness and attributed it to things that could not be fixed.

Brilliant! I love it when science unifies cultures and nations under one roof to benefit everyone. Bravo!
