What does the term "burning bridges" mean? I'm pretty sure they don't literally mean burning bridges..

but if I had to guess, I would think that it means something along the lines of "you're losing your connections" or something like that xD

To understand the term burning bridges:

Image your'e standing on an island, around you, you have many island, each representing the connections you have in your life (with people etc.).

To connect you with all these people you have to build brigdes (relationships etc.).

If you burn these bridges you will not have anyone around you. You will stand alone.

@Jenoevian burning bridges means to cut your ties with someone.. to like destroy what you have with a person whether its family a friend or lover its to cut them out of you life.. burning the bridge .. you cannot walk across a bridge thats gone.. you cannot expect to be close to someone if there is no longer anything there.. O.o if that makes sense lol
