FOLLOW THE FULL EXPRIENCE OF THE ROAD TRIP HERE
After Cooma, I took the road again and have just arrived in Melbourne. It's the second largest city of Australia and one-time capital of the country. In keeping with the theme of water management, I came here to meet a man who has created gardens in places you'd never expect: on walls. The process requires fytofoam, a biodegradable, lightweight material that absorbs water and serves as a bed to the plants; months of planting and grooming as the chosen plants' bed is turned to a 90º angle; and a very good set of green fingers. Geoff Heard combined all this - and took us around his vertical garden center.

Great vertical gardening modules. Interesting that the plants are started horizontally. Let's put plants on every wall!
