This is a short educational piece intended to teach people the basic structure of events that took place during the Battle of the Somme, a battle in WWI.

This was made for my 10th grade english class as a project for "All Quiet on the Western" front. It was meant as a WWI research project, not as a video for the novel.

**This is a student film. I take no credit what so ever for the music that is used in the film. Since this film is a student film, there has been and nor will there be any revenue collected for this film.*

  • Your Somme salient seems to be in the middle of Argentina?

  • are you talking about the scene with the map? its very likely not the correct location. they just kinda picked a spot on the map even though i told them where it would be located.

  • Stop playing at it boys! My Great Granfather was a Sgt Major! He survived! If you are doing this out of respect then good on you! But if you are taking the piss then I will hunt you down, as will many of my countrymen! ENGLAND

  • hello sir. im sorry if i offended you. i meant no disrespect. i just have some immature actors.

it is nice to see someone who cares about their country.

  • Crap acting but its not Hollywood so what do we expect. I am impressed that you got most of the facts right. If you have not read the German accounts you should. You will see how the battle became a meat grinder that the Germans made and the Brits happily walked into every day. Loins led by donkeys on both sides. When the US came in later in the war they just did the same. 20,000 marines first day.

  • haha, yeah mate. Yes, The Somme valley is in Northern France as you would know. Near the town of Albert. Many Australians fought there around Thiepvale, Poziers and towards Bapaume. Its a sobering place to visit even today.

  • I thought it was a disastrous war because of the interests that were more important than human

  • thanks

  • I care very much! I care about respect! As you have shown respect to the dead then you also have my respect back! I mean no offence to you however I do get a little upset (lol) when someone appears to be taking the piss out of my nations dead!

    Regards and respect to you!

  • hello fightm135. i didnt make the music, but i made the film.

the intro song is the theme to Apollo 13. If you are looking for some good music, I would look up the soundtrack to Glory. The composer, James Horner, makes a lot of very good music that might fit.
