The Sinaloa drug cartel has been involved in a bloody battle with a rival cartel for control of Juarez. An NPR investigation, including an analysis of 2,600 arrest documents, found strong evidence that Mexico's drug fight is rigged. In this video, NPR reporter John Burnett tells the story behind the numbers. He carries us from the highest ranks of the Sinaloa cartel into the desolate Juarez Valley and then the Rio Grande, where the Mexican military appears to assist an SUV stuffed with marijuana.

  • @gooseyencha ... Actually its american Drug money fueling it all. Tell me how well is that 'Just say no' working in america after half a century? won the drug war yet? Or just made being a criminal very profitable.

  • the us goverment and the mexican drug lord are in cahoots

  • US needs to legalize marijuana ,thats there bred and butter thats the way they support the other drugs, if we control marijuana its billions of dollars they will lose no matter how rich they are losing billions will hurt any one

  • Gangs in America are nothing compared to the cartels, gangs will pull out a pistol, but the cartels would pull out an automatic grenade launcher.

  • The truth is that the U.S and Mexico are together on this one. The drug business is the biggest and most profitable after war. This won't end. The U.S is the country which consumes drugs the most and with the most jails in the planet, while Mexico is a great client too. It is all about getting as much currency (not money) as possible, because all the dollars and pesos on each transaction made, are backed by nothing, but because they are medium of exchange, people are still in this business.
