these men are true heroes. they fought for a country that regarded them and their families as threats and many of them paid with their lives. men like these make me proud to wear the uniform and proud to be an American soldier.

@torasan05 Awwww...that's too bad, I had a close friend of my uncles who survived all of this with several medals and a rank of Staff sergeant to end his career. If he knew you were doing this he would have volunteered right away, sadly though George passed away one month ago.

i got the message on Facebook that the film is complete! Thank you!!
Although he's been asked to be interviewed, he's always denied the request. Our family has tried to get him to put together a journal, but the only time he has talked of his experience was when my daughter did a project for school. He has also talked to students at Iolani School.

Try get him to talk one day soon. I actually tried to interview as many Hawaiian Nisei available here on the mainland for the film.
Especially when over 60% of the entire unit was from the Islands. Most interviewed in the film are from the SF Bay Area.

Actually the 442nd was the most decorated US Army unit in WW2 and US Army history for its size and length of service (3 years). The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was about 3500 men in the field and roughly one quarter the size of a US Army division (10,000-15,000men) An amazing feat for one small unit that was not trusted initially by the US government. Aloha!
