Joe's P.O.V.
"You should spend the day at the rink," I told Devon and she gladly agreed. Once Devon left I called the restaurant to double check my reservations.
"What do you mean I don't have a reservation?" I asked the lady on the phone frustrated.
"I'm sorry sir, but we don't have your name down," the lady told me.
"Well double check, it has to be there. I called yesterday, you can't lose something in a day," I said.
"Fine," she said clearly annoyed with me. "Oh, I found it," she said after a few minutes of looking through papers.
"Thank you," I replied hanging up and just then Kevin walked in. "Do people not knock anymore?" I asked.
"Sorry dude," Kevin said. "So what's up?"
"I'm gonna do it tonight," I told him. I had told him and Nick my plan and they were quite excited about it. I'm assuming they had told Sam, Sara, Amanda and Namra, so basically everyone knew except Devon.
"Thats great!" Kevin told me. "You don't seem nervous at all. I'm surprised."
"Ha," I laughed. "I'm so nervous," I said even though I had no reason to believe that she would say no.
"Don't be. You'll do fine," Kevin assured me.
"Thanks," I replied. "Okay now go," I said. "Devon should be home soon and I don't want her to get suspicious."
"Fine, I see how it is, kicking your own brother out," Kevin said sarcastically.
"Yeah, yeah," I replied. "Now go," I said pushing him out the door.
Once I had successfully kicked Kevin out I went to get changed. I took the ring out of my super secret hiding place- my dresser- and put it in my pocket so it wasn't noticeable.
I went downstairs to watch T.V. so that I could relax a bit. Devon came home and went upstairs to get ready and I tried to prepare what I was going to say later. I went through multiple possibilities before I decided exactly what I was going to say.
Once Devon came down we left for the restaurant. I tried not to think about what was coming later, which I did fairly successfully except that I could feel the ring in my pocket.
"How was skating?" I asked.
"Good," Devon said. "I can still do everything."
"Well, I guess I'll have to come watch someday," I said smiling.
"Ugh, I guess," Devon said sarcastically.
After finishing dinner I took Devon to the beach. I could tell that Devon was suspicious about what was going on, but I think I remained fairly calm. We settled on building a sand castle.
"We should enter a sand castle building competition," I said as I admired our work.
"We totally should," Devon said laughing. We both were looking out towards the ocean and now was the perfect time, it was now or never. I took a deep breath and got down on my knee and Devon looked over at me shocked.
"I had it all planned what I was going to say, but now I forget," I started. "These past years have been amazing, I have had so much fun with you. Devon will you marry me?" I asked. Of course Devon said yes.
"I love the ring, it's beautiful," Devon said.
"I'm glad you like it," I replied smiling.
Devon took over most of the planning for the wedding, but of course she made sure everything was okay with me first before making the final decisions. We were going to have the wedding in May in a nice church in the area. The reception was going to be at this beautiful beach. All the dresses were picked out and of course I had not seen any of them, but I was dying to see Devon's, but I knew the rule.
"Hey Joe can I talk to you for a sec? I need your help," Kevin said when he came over one day.
"Asking for Joe's help thats dangerous," Devon laughed.
"Yeah sure," I said as I went with Kevin into the other room. He asked me his opinion on something and I gave him my advice. I told him what I thought he should do along with the ideas he already had. After a few minutes Kevin left thanking me.
"What was that about?" Devon asked me
"Oh nothing, you'll find out at some point," I said smiling.
Three days later I was watching T.V. and I heard Devon's phone ring and I heard her say hi to Sam. Did he do it already? I wasn't expecting him to do it that quick, I thought he would wait at least a week. I don't even know if Sam's calling about what I think shes calling about. I guess I'll just have to wait until Devon gets off the phone to find out.
so the sandcastle part reminds of the Rocket Power episode anyone know what i'm talking about?
