my mom was talking about earthworms today, she said at the fair grounds they had demonstrations for composting with worms. She described the lady instructor who had a wooden box with food scraps in the bottom of the box and shredded cardboard layer on top of the food waste. NO DIRT. And can you believe this lady was able to get average earthworms to survive in that? I would at least add some peat moss and go with red wigglers instead of field worms.
